Leo’s machine froze. The screen turned a deep crimson, then black. When he rebooted, all that remained was a single audio file on his desktop. He clicked play.
Instead, his browser opened a new tab: a flashing ad for “SpeedyPC Pro.” Then another. Then his mouse started moving on its own, clicking on things he didn’t touch.
But nothing else happened. No main program. No desktop icon.
He disabled his antivirus—the pop-up told him to. “False positive,” he reassured himself. He ran the installer.
