If the title sounds familiar, it’s because Shaukiya taps into a very North Indian colloquial term—“shaukiya” (someone with a peculiar hobby or obsession). And obsession, as the first part demonstrates, is a dangerous thing. Set in a claustrophobic kothi in Uttar Pradesh, Shaukiya – Part 1 follows Raghav (played by a surprisingly restrained Ankit Sharma), a lonely landlord with a collection of antique hunting traps.
