The show is a loose adaptation. Peter Parker (voiced by Drake Bell ) is recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. after a run-in with the Hulk. Under Nick Fury’s (voiced by Chi McBride) training, Peter leads a team of young heroes: Nova, White Tiger, Iron Fist, and Power Man.

It is the universe where Peter grew up, fell in love, lost everything, and died a hero. And it is the universe where a kid named Miles Morales learned to stand up, prove himself, and carry that legacy into the future. When Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley launched Ultimate Spider-Man in 2000, it was a gamble. The goal was to strip Peter Parker down to his basics, update him for a new millennium, and free him from decades of convoluted comic book continuity. What they created became a landmark in modern comics, a template for future Spider-Man films, and eventually, a sprawling media franchise of its own.

Unlike the comics’ often dramatic tone, the cartoon is fast-paced, meta, and breaks the fourth wall. Peter talks directly to the audience, narrating his life with comic-book onomatopoeia ( THWIP! ). It drew heavy inspiration from Teen Titans Go! in its humor and energy.
