He descended into the hypogeum—a Roman-era prison beneath the fort. The "Throne of the Dead" was a stone chair carved with the figures of men screaming as they were unmade. And on the seat lay the Mask.

He unsheathed his sword—a heavy, chipped broadsword taken from a dead Frankish knight. No elegant Persian steel. This was a brute’s weapon. He’d become a brute. Seven years of running does that to a man. Prince of Persia - Warrior Within -USA Europe- ...

The Crusader keep vanished. In its place: a pristine Persian fire temple from an age before Islam, before Zoroaster, before anything. The Dahaka, a creature of linear vengeance, couldn't process the paradox. It flickered. It roared. And then it shattered into a million grains of black sand.

It lunged.

The Dahaka emerged from the sea behind the fortress, its serpentine body composed of black water and broken hourglasses. Its eyes were twin voids. It didn't walk—it manifested , each tendril of its form rewriting reality into oblivion.
