This is the album where Thom Yorke learned to sing from his gut. The Bends is the perfect bridge between rock traditon and the weirdness to come. The guitars are still loud ( Just , My Iron Lung ), but the ballads ( High and Dry , Street Spirit (Fade Out) ) carry a weight of existential dread that feels timeless. Underrated
