Steve McQueen’s motorcycle chase, the incredible ensemble cast (Charles Bronson, James Garner, Richard Attenborough), and Elmer Bernstein’s thrilling score make the 2h 52m runtime fly by. The story of Allied POWs plotting a massive Nazi camp breakout is tense, clever, and surprisingly moving.
