For three weeks, they dubbed the entire film. Every scream, every whisper, every inexplicable explosion (there were twelve) was given a new Albanian voice. When a character shouted what sounded like "Wok!" — Teuta translated it as "Qofte!" When a monk appeared and spoke for ten minutes in Hmonglish, Gzim turned it into a recipe for jani me fasule .

Blerim, a tired but passionate dubbing director in Tirana, rubbed his eyes. He had been waiting for this project for years. Vellai Ari — a low-budget Thai action-horror film from 1987 about a ghost-possessed rice farmer — had become a cult classic in Albania after someone illegally aired it on TV Klan during a technical glitch in 2005. The dialogue was nonsensical. The plot was missing. But the people loved it.
But those sixteen? They loved it like family.
The first scene of Vellai Ari 2 showed a man in a rice paddy, holding a white sack. A subtitle — possibly from an old fan translation — read: "The second harvest brings only ghosts." "But we just finished Vellai Ari 2
"What's this?" Blerim asked.
They sat in a damp studio called Zëri i Qytetit (The Voice of the City).
Blerim gathered his team: Ermal, a former radio host who could imitate any accent; Teuta, a theater actress who had once voiced a donkey in a children's cartoon; and Gzim, an 80-year-old man who claimed he could "feel" the meaning of any film just by watching it muted. "Dub it in perfect Albanian
